The Best 25 Easy Yummy Dessert & Snack Recipes

As an adult, I have never had a big problem keeping control of my sugar intake. In fact, I all but cut it out completely years ago. I started using sweet n low for my coffee or tea in the morning. I started choosing diet drinks over drinks with added sugars. I’ve never even really kept sweets of any kind, around the house much…for my own consumption at least. My snacks of choice have always been salt related vs. sugar.

Like I said, I’ve never had a problem managing my sugar intake.

That’s why I was surprised when my doctor diagnosed me with Type 2 Diabetes a couple of years ago. True, both sides of my family do have a history of diabetes. I have just never been much at risk. Even after I was diagnosed, I was able to drop my AC1 down by a huge amount within 3 months time…to normal levels in fact. I didn’t follow all of the rules provided…I simply starting looking at labels regularly. I cut out a couple of drinks and snacks that were really high in sugars, without cutting everything out completely. My doctor lowered my medication dose and I maintained that AC1 for well over a year.

Diabetes Jail

That brings me to why I chose desserts as my recipe topic this time around. My doctor recently gave me a stern talking to. Apparently, my AC1 went back up a bit…not extreme, just enough for the need to step back 🙁

Admittedly, I did become a bit arrogant when the warmer months arrived and ice cream became a regular thought…

In any event, my doctor is again banishing me from certain foods I have been eating all this time. I won’t listen to everything he says of course, but I do have to be super strict on myself for a minute.

This only serves to make me want those forbidden treats that much more!

I’m sure I will again get that number back down quickly. In the meantime, I will have to somewhat live vicariously through the rest of you who have the ability to utilize any of these mouth water recipes in the near future.

What better way to build resilience than to torture yourself with food porn?

You better believe, though…as soon as I’m back on track, I will be treating myself to one of the delicious desserts!

The problem will be in choosing between them!

Final Thoughts…

I must say, I found putting together this dessert list was much more challenging than I thought it would be. Not just because I currently have to keep my distance from these tasty snacks, but also because there are just simply too many different categories of delicious desserts!. I could have written an article on parfaits, alone! I had to stop, before I wrote a dessert novel.

That’s one of the reasons I think I become inspired to write about food a little more than other topics. It gives me great opportunity to discover recipe ideas I didn’t know existed! It of course makes me super hungry, but I’m okay with that. Goes with the territory 😉

Until next time, let us know in the comments, which of these tasty snacks you are most excited to try! Bet you’ll have a hard time deciding 😉
