Yes, yes…I know. Romantic Comedies (Rom Coms) are generally known as chick flicks, and most men cringe when their lady says she’s in the mood for one.
His idea of a nice movie date is more like watching some crazy thriller like The Shining, so he can comfort us as we scream, and be the dashing hero that saves us from nightmares later.😅
However, Rom coms are a woman’s emotional support system when we just need to feel good.
Our men tolerate them out of love for us. But we all know, they would much rather be anywhere else, doing anything else.
That being said, it is currently Valentine’s Day.
Like it or not, our guys have to compromise a bit.
Keeping that in mind, I decided to put together a list of the best 25 romantic comedy movies I could come up with, that even the guys can’t hate…entirely.
These classic Rom Coms will not only make you both laugh, but yes…even warm his heart in ways he didn’t expect.
They include some of the best actors and actresses of our time, and they will indeed have you walking away feeling a bit softer and lighter at the end of the day.
Even for the guys in our life.

Now To The Details
The first list is all about the 2000’s. I honestly feel like the best romantic comedies were made in the last 25 years, but there are some really great throw backs that are worth mentioning.
Those older flicks are mentioned later in this article.
1. 50 First Dates (2004)
Synopsis: A Hawaiian island playboy has to use his imagination to win over the girl of his dreams when he discovers she has no short-term memory. Every night he is erased from her memory so he has to make her fall in love with him all over again the next day.
2. Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008)
Synopsis: Watch the Unrated version that you couldn’t see in theaters! It’s the hysterically funny look at how far one man will go to forget a girl and all the fun he finds along the way!

3. No Strings Attached (2011)
Synopsis: Two life long friends try to keep their relationship strictly physical but as time goes on both start to wonder if they want more from each other.
4. The Proposal (2009)
Synopsis: When book editor Margaret faces deportation to her native Canada, the quick-thinking exec declares that she’s engaged to her assistant Andrew, who she’s tormented for years. He agrees to participate in the charade, but with a few conditions of his own.
5. He’s Just Not That Into You (2009)
Synopsis: A group of interconnected, Baltimore-based twenty and thirtysomethings navigate their relationships from the shallow end of the dating pool through the deep, murky waters of married life, trying to read the signs of the opposite sex.
6. Always Be My Maybe (2019)
Synopsis: Reunited after 15 years, famous chef Sasha and hometown musician Marcus feel the old sparks of attraction but struggle to adapt to each other’s worlds.
7. The Holiday (2006)
Synopsis: A woman plagued by man trouble finds her fortune improves when she befriends an Englishwoman while on vacation.
8. My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002)
Synopsis: Nia Vardalos stars as a girl who creates a stir within her traditional Greek family by falling for a guy with one flaw–he’s not Greek!
9. The Switch (2010)
Synopsis: Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman star in a charming, offbeat romantic comedy about best friends who accidentally become closer than they ever expected when one of them decides to have a baby.
10. Just Go With It (2011)
Synopsis: Danny (Adam Sandler) is a successful plastic surgeon who pretends to be unhappily married to get women. When he finally meets a girl (Brooklyn Decker) he believes to be the woman of his dreams, he doesn’t use his method on her, but she soon finds the wedding band he uses. Afraid of telling her the truth, he tells her he’s getting a divorce, to which she requests to meet his soon to be ex.
11. Marley And Me (2008)
Synopsis: Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson unleash huge laughs as John and Jenny Grogan, a young couple contemplating the decision to have a baby. Then came Marley…an adorable Labrador pup who flunks obedience school and quickly turns his new home into a disaster area. But over the years, the Grogans come to realize that “the world’s worst dog” truly brings out the best in them.
12. Last Holiday (2006)
Synopsis: A woman (Queen Latifah) with less than a month to live jets off on a dream vacation to live life like there’s no tomorrow. Co-starring LL Cool J, Timothy Hutton and Giancarlo Esposito.
13. Sweet Home Alabama (2002)
Synopsis: A small town girl has made a name in NYC as a fashion designer. She’s set to wed the mayor’s son except for one little detail – getting the husband she left behind to sign the divorce papers! With Patrick Dempsey.
14. The 40 Year Old Virgin (2005)
Synopsis: Three co-workers unite to help their buddy’s (Steve Carell) sex life.
15. Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind (2004)
Synopsis: Seeking to forget their tumultuous relationship, a young man and his former girlfriend undergo a medical procedure to erase their memories of each other.
16. Serendipity (2001)
Synopsis: Two destined lovers tempt fate and lose each other.

1. 16 Candles (1984)
Synopsis: Molly Ringwald’s “sweet” sixteenth birthday becomes anything but special, as she suffers from every embarrassment possible.
2. Pretty In Pink (1986)
Synopsis: The 1980s teen classic with Molly Ringwald and Andrew McCarthy as lovestruck teens from opposite sides of the tracks.
3. Say Anything (1989)
Synopsis: A high-school graduate yearns for a lovely valedictorian.
4. Jerry Maguire (1996)
Synopsis: A sports agent represents an athlete.
5. When Harry Met Sally (1989)
Synopsis: Can two friends sleep together and still love each other in the morning? Two long-time acquaintances Harry Burns (Billy Crystal) and Sally Albright (Meg Ryan) grapple with this question over a 12-year period.
6. While You Were Sleeping (1995)
Synopsis: In this hit romantic comedy that woke eveyone up to adorable Sandra Bullock. As Lucy, a lonely subway worker, she becomes smitten with a handsome stranger. But when she saves his life after he’s been mugged and fallen into a coma, his hilariously offbeat family mistakes her for his fiancee! Soon, the mix ups escalate as Lucy fabricates a life between herself and a man she’s never met!
7. There’s Something About Mary (1998)
Synopsis: An aspiring screenwriter lets his best friend talk him into using a sleazy claims investigator to find a girl the writer had a crush on in high school.
8. 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)
Synopsis: A pretty, popular student can’t date until her rebellious older sister gets a suitor of her own.
9. Pretty Woman (1990)
Synopsis: A straitlaced corporate raider hires a spirited, streetwise prostitute to be his companion for a weeklong series of business events. But what begins as a job proposition takes a turn toward the romantic.
Final Thoughts
Even if you don’t watch some of these movies, going through these trailers will not only make your heart sing, but make you laugh your tail off!
